OUR HISTORY

Lakeland Highlands Middle School was established in 1975 and is located in southwest Lakeland just off South Florida Avenue.

LHMS (known as Lakeland Highlands Junior High until 1993) is one of the largest middle schools in Polk County with over 1200 students.

In 2012, the school became a pre-academy, with current tracts available in Fine Arts, Video Game Design, Culinary Arts, Medicine, Aviation/Engineering/Robotics, and Media Design.

Through a collaborative focus on rigorous and engaging instruction, students in grades six through eight will build on their previous years’ knowledge empowering them to be critical thinkers and active contributors in preparation for successful academic achievement in high school.
